How can I apply for short term disability before I give birth?

Can you answer neetole04’s question about Disabilities?:

I’m 38 weeks pregnant right now but I’m very uncomfortable at work. So, I’m wondering how I can apply for short term disability now instead of waiting until the baby is born. What would my doctor have to tell the insurance company (Metlife) for them to accept the claim?

Disabilities Feedback: Your doctor has to put you on bed rest.

Disabilities Feedback: Your Dr. would have to put you on bed rest and have a reason…excessive swelling, back aches…Unfortunately being pregnant itself isn’t a reason…there needs to be something that causes you not to be able to work for them to accept the claim.

    Good luck!!

Disabilities Feedback: You need to call your doctor and see if he will file the proper paperwork. Tell him that you are miserable. I don’t see what’s wrong with letting you off of work now.

Hang in there. pace yourself and slow down.
