how do i obtain individual short term disability insurance?

Can you answer thdwlgP’s question about Disabilities?:

I got an offer from a small firm but they do not offer short term disability insurance. I want to have one just incase I get pregnant and need to take a maternity leave so I get paid during the maternity leave. I’ve called few insurance companies and they dont do individual short term disability insurance? What’s my best option? Any ideas? Thanks
Thanks for your inputs. I guess I’ll just have to stick to savings… or find another job that will cover it :)

Disabilities Feedback: There isn’t an option (other than maybe AFLAC) as short-term disability isn’t an individual product.

If I’m wrong someone please inform me because I’ve never seen one. Long term may be available, but for something planned like a pregnancy you should be able to plan on your own by saving for it (unlike getting struck by a car where Karma does the planning for you).

Disabilities Feedback: Well, most individual plans for short term disability WITH maternity, require you to pay for it for two full years, before the maternity part kicks in.

It’s cheaper to just sock away the $150 a month in your savings account.

Any local, independent health broker should be able to do this, but it’s NOT cheap, with that maternity rider - because only the people who ever want to USE that maternity rider, buy that coverage. So it’s a PREPAYMENT plan.

Disabilities Feedback: healthplans.my-age.net - here is my health insurance plan. As I remember they can provide such a service.

Disabilities Feedback: Illinois Mutual or Aflac.
I am appointed with Illinois Mutual and love their disability plans. I actually have used one of my plans, personally. They are wonderful. Just go to
